Headquartered in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Zahid Group has successfully evolved over the course of the last century from its origins as a modest trading concern to become a multi-national organization encompassing a diverse portfolio of companies operating across 11 sectors.
The Group’s success is built on long-standing partnerships, associations with globally renowned brands and its adherence to the highest levels of professionalism and operating standards.
The Zahid family has been connected to commerce for over a century, playing a pivotal role in the development of Saudi Arabia’s infrastructure. In 1950 a chance meeting with a Caterpillar representative led to the formation of a close-knit relationship, resulting in M.M. Zahid & Brothers being appointed the Cat dealer. This partnership eventually led to the formation of Zahid Tractor in 1967.
Over the years, Zahid Tractor has evolved into three core business units – Construction Machinery, Commercial Vehicles and Rental. Today, we serve a number of industries, including construction and infrastructure, industrial, logistics and warehousing, agriculture, transportation, petroleum, mining, and quarry and aggregates.

Zahid Tractor operates 24 branches across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia which offers best in class parts and servicing capabilities, including dedicated embedded service technicians and site support personnel at key strategic projects and operations.

MILESTONES
1950
M.M. Zahid & Brothers is appointed the Caterpillar dealer in Saudi Arabia, focusing on covering the Western and Central Regions of the Kingdom.
1955
M.M. Zahid & Brothers is assigned the Eastern Region territory for Caterpillar, obtaining the rights from John Birch & Co.
1962
The company opens its Bab Makkah branch in Jeddah, encompassing both M.M. Zahid & Brothers’ head office and showroom.
1967
Zahid Tractor & Heavy Machinery Limited is formed focusing primarily on the distribution and servicing of Caterpillar equipment in Saudi Arabia.
1973
Zahid Tractor supplies the first D300 series engine in the Kingdom. This diesel engine proves to be a workhorse for several decades to come, serving in a multitude of industries providing reliable power in extreme operating conditions
1976
Zahid Tractor opens its new purpose-built facilities in Riyadh and Dammam, both encompassing a combined 120,000 square meters of offices, warehouses, and workshops.
1981
Zahid Tractor introduces the D9L Track Type Tractor, with a new elevated sprocket design. This model, and subsequent generations of D9 Tractors continue to operate around the Kingdom to this day.
1982
In a span of 10 years between 1971 to 1981, Zahid Tractor supplies 2 million horsepower of Cat diesel generators and irrigation engines to its customers in Saudi Arabia.
1983
Saudi Techint and Saipem work jointly using Cat pipelayers on the 1,200-kilometer East-West crude oil pipeline laying a 56″ crude oil and a 46″ natural gas twin pipelines connecting the eastern oil fields to Yanbu.
1986
Abha inaugurates its new expanded branch, which provides the springboard for Zahid Tractor’s customer support in the growing Southern Region.
1989
Zahid Tractor delivers the first of its 3600 series engines to King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah. By 2012, there will be 100 units operating around the Kingdom providing reliable power to customers.
1990
Jubail branch’s innovative service department develops an in-house solution to equip 11 X D7 track type tractors with a mine sweeper attachment to assist the Armed Forces during Operation Desert Storm.
1993
Zahid Tractor opens its first SOS lab in Jeddah, propelling its customer service to a new level and providing end users with a longer equipment life cycle and lower downtime.
1997
The Shaybah project gets underway, with Cat machines in action moving dunes to make way for Saudi Aramco’s new processing plant in the midst of the Empty Quarter.
2005
Zahid Tractor supplies National Aquaculture Group in Al Leith with a fleet of Cat machines to help expand their site into becoming one of the largest fully integrated shrimp farms in the world.
2006
The demolition of the old Jamarat bridge in Mina commences, making way for its more modern replacement which is to be built under a very tight schedule in time for the following year’s Hajj season.
2007
Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) awards the first of the CTW sections to build its new 2,400 kilometer railway line linking the Northern Borders with Maaden’s processing and export plant in Ras Al Khair.
2009
Work commences on the 453 kilometer Haramain High Speed Railway between Makkah and Madinah, linking the two Holy Sites with Jeddah and King Abdullah Economic City. Once completed, the train will be able to reach speeds of 300KM/H.
2012
On November 1st, a gas transport truck flipped on the highway near Zahid Tractor’s Riyadh Kilo 17 facility. The leaked gas blanketed the branch and ignited, causing an explosion that leveled the entire facility. Five people lost their lives that day.
2013
To support the increased population of active engines and generators in the Western Region, Jeddah branch opens its new state of the art 2,700 square meter Engine Rebuild Center complete with a 2,000hp engine dynamometer.
2015
Zahid Tractor completes its 100th Cat Certified Rebuild since 2007, on a 992D for Tabuk Cement Company. Customers continue to see the value in rebuilding Cat machines that are designed and built to last multiple lifetimes.
2016
Saudi Aramco awards a SR4 billion 3-year 1,100-kilometer pipeline project from its Fadhili gas plant to Yanbu. Zahid Tractor wins its biggest side-boom deal in its history, to supply 107 x PL87 pipelayers to its customers.
2017
Zahid Tractor supplies a customer in the Oil & Gas industry with the Kingdom’s first remote control operated machines, equipping 6 X D8R tractors with highly sophisticated equipment control technologies.
2018
Zahid Tractor supports multiple Cat machines and generators for contractors working in the stunning landscapes of AlUla, to help in the preparation of turning the region into a world class heritage destination.
2019
Jeddah’s new King Abdulaziz International Airport opens its doors to the first of its travelers. The airport is equipped with Zahid Tractor supplied 46 X 3616 Cat diesel generators on standby mode.
2020
Zahid Tractor inaugurates its recently expanded Dammam facility, comprising of a new administration building, a 4,500 square meter Engine Rebuild Center, and our Eastern Region Zahid Learning Institute’s state of the art training center.
2021
Over 100 Cat new and rental machines are supplied by Zahid Tractor to work at the Qiddyah project in Riyadh which when completed will comprise of several hotels and golf courses, a theme park, and an F1 racetrack.
2022
Zahid Tractor delivers a 6030 hydraulic mining shovel, and at 324 tons it is the largest Cat machine in the Kingdom to date, to a customer working at one of Maaden’s gold mines, helping them achieve its targeted production of 250,000 ounces of gold per year.
2023
Zahid Tractor launches Parts.Cat.Com which enables all customers to order their Cat parts online. This service further enhances the customer experience, both by providing a user-friendly online platform in which to shop for their requirements, as well as offering either a branch pick-up or delivery service to any location. Finding and buying the right Cat parts has never been easier, and Zahid Tractor on-boards 1,000 customers in those 6 months and continues to work with all its customers to showcase its benefits.
